Lincoln University entered into an agreement with the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) to conduct the Small Farm Technical Outreach Program (SFTOP). This project serves limited resource SFTOP farmers and rural residents located in Southeast Missouri. Project staff work with rural families who want to maintain their farm family lifestyle and increase their income with agriculture. The staff also assists large farmers, as well as very small farmers engaged in vegetable and livestock enterprises.

How the Program will Benefit You:

• We have developed and implemented a program so that eligible farmers might acquire farm ownership and/or operating loans.
• We provide technical assistance to help lower your input costs and increase crop yields.
• We help you develop farm and home plans.
• We help you design simplified financial management systems for income statements, cash flow budgets and household budgets. You can make solid business decisions based on your farm analysis.
• We can help you develop a comprehensive record keeping system.

The Project Staff Provides Technical Assistance By:

• giving one-on-one, on-site farm training and demonstrations;
• providing seminars, workshops and group training sessions for participants;
• providing management and production information;
• informing farmers about FmHA and other government agency procedures;
• sharing Extension information to help families accomplish their goals and increase their quality of life.
