Southeast Missouri Show-Me Select Replacement Heifer Sale

   Coordinated by Show Me Select Board with University Extension, Commercial 
Agriculture Program, MU College of Veterinary Medicine, Missouri Cattlemen 
Association and Missouri Dept of Agriculture. 
 
   Heifers in this sale have met minimum standards for reproductive soundness, 
pelvic size, frame size, muscle thickness, body condition, and weight. They have 
undergone a comprehensive health program, and are guaranteed bred. There was 71 
percent A.I. bred heifers. Approximately 23 percent of the offerings were Teir 2 
Show Me Select heifers. This means that they have met requirements and are out of
high accuracy sires. Several herds have 6 to 7 generations of stacked pedigrees. 
Several consignors feed their cattle and get top premium at U.S. Premium Beef on 
steers mates. All heifers are expected to calve from August to the end of 
November with projected dates given for each lot of heifers. Within the 
offering, there were 99 percent black or black white face, some Registered 
Angus.  Heifers were graded and sorted into uniform lots according to projected 
calving dates and body type similarity. A large crowd attended the sale and 
demand was high. 

   Supply consisted of 142 bred heifers from 14 producers, in 77 lots selling to 
27 different buyers, with a sale average of $1764.00 per head. There were 31 
head of Teir 2-AI bred heifers with an average sale price of $1866.00; 15 head 
Teir 2 natural bred heifers with average price of $1723.00; 71 head Teir 1-AI 
bred heifers with average price $1753.00; 25 Teir 1 natural bred heifers with an 
average price $1696.00.

   Replacement Heifers: Few Registered Angus Medium and Large 1-2, 1st-2nd Stage 
$1950.00-$2200.00 per head; few reputation $2600.00-$2650.00 per head; Large 1, 
1st-2nd stage, $1850.00-$1900.00 per head; fancy lots, $2000.00-$2200.00 per 
head; Large 2, 1st-2nd stage $1650.00-$1850.00 per head; Medium 1, 1st-2nd stage, 
$1550.00-$1750.00 per head; few Medium 2, 1st-2nd stage, $1250.00-$1400.00 per 
head.
