   Coordinated by Show Me Select Board with University Extension, Commercial
Agriculture Program, MU College of Veterinary Medicine, Missouri Cattlemen
Association and Missouri Dept of Agriculture.

   Heifers in this sale have met minimum standards for reproductive soundness,
pelvic size, frame size, muscle thickness, body condition, and weight. They have
undergone a comprehensive health program, and are guaranteed bred. There are 55
percent A.I. bred heifers. Approximately 28 percent of the offering were Tier 2
Show Me Select heifers. This means that they have met requirements and are out
high accuracy sires. Several herds have 6 to 7 generations of stacked pedigrees.
Several consignors feed their cattle and get top premium at U.S. Premium Beef on
steers mates. All heifers are expected to calve from February to mid April with
projected dates given for each lot of heifers. Within the offering, there were
99 percent black or black white face, some Registered Angus.  Heifers were
graded and sorted into uniform lots according to projected calving dates and
body type similarity. A large crowd attended the sale and demand was very good.

   Supply consisted of 126 bred heifers from 16 producers, in 68 lots selling to
26 different buyers, average weight 1165 lbs, with a sale average of $1460.00
per head. There were 28 head of Tier 2-AI bred heifers with an average sale
price of $1584.00; 8 head Tier 2 natural bred heifers with average price of
$1413.002; 40 head Tier 1-AI bred heifers with average price $1426.00; 50 Tier 1
natural bred heifers with an average price $1425.00.

   Replacement Heifers: Few Registered Angus Large 1-2, 2nd-3rd Stage $1300.00-
1550.00 per head; Large 1, 2nd-3rd stage, $1400.00-$1650.00 per head; fancy
lots, $1650.00-$1850.00 per head; Large 2, 2nd -3rd stage $1300.00-$1500.00 per
head; Medium 1, 2nd-3rd stage, 1250.00-1400.00 per head; few Medium 2, 2nd-3rd
stage, 1200.00-$1350.00 per head.
