Dear Prospective Buyers and Guests: Welcome to the seventh North Central Show -Me Select Replacement Heifer Sale. The participating producers along with the help and assistance of their veterinarians and regional and state Extension specialists have worked hard this past year to bring you a fantastic offering of bred heifers. These heifers have been through as thorough a heifer development program as any in the nation. The program is designed to develop a bred heifer that is a fertile, productive female who should stay a productive member of your cowherd for many years. Nation-wide the percentage of two year olds who require assistance calving is close to 20%. Producers who purchased SMS heifers through this sale in 2006 reported only having to assist only 8% of the heifers at calving. Eighty-eight percent of these same heifers calved within two weeks of their projected due dates. All the heifers in the sale have been tested and are negative for PI BVD There are 200 heifers consigned to this sale. Approximately 95% are black or black white face with the remainder being red and red baldy heifers. There are 18 to 20 registered Angus heifers in the sale and papers will be transferred to the buyer. All the heifers consigned are bred Angus and many of them have been bred A.I. to some of the most popular sires in the breed.
