The heifers in our consignment this year are sired by SydGen Prestige 1316, Butch's Maximum 3130, SAF 3130 Maximum 9030, SAF Focus J30, SydGen Rocky Road 2060, SydGen Focus L30, and several other top quality bulls. There are 50 heifers bred A.I. to SAF Connection and 7 bred A.I. to SAF Focus J30. The natural service sires are SYDGEN 323 Design 3526 who is a New Design 323 son out of J30's full sister and the other natural service sire is MKBA Connection H313 P278. We fed 158 steer and heifer mates to these heifers and they graded 11% prime and 32% CAB and averaged a $72.61 dollar premium per head on the ESPB grid. 2 of these heifers are Registered Angus. These heifers are Angus, Charolais and Charolais Angus Cross. Three Angus heifers were sired by Decatur and two by Predestined and one by TC Stockman son. The Charolais are sired by TSC Max 9714. The A.I. heifers are bred to Bextor, his daughters make moderate sized, good milking cows and his sons gain fast and exhibit a strong hip and hind leg. He ranks high for every $ value index. These heifers are Angus X with some being purebred Angus. They are sired by either an A.I. Bull SAF Focus J30 or by our herd bulls that were purchased at Tested Bull Sales. Seven are daughters of SAF Focus J30. 9 are sired by a son of New 4100 from Butch's Angus, 5 from a McCumber Traveler son from Metcalf and 5 from a Millcreek Diversity son. All heifers have known birthdates and parentage for several generations. Steers from Masters Farms have averaged 40% CAB and 15 to 20% Prime when fed on the farm and shipped to U.S. Premium Beef in Kansas. A handout of the heifers sires, birthdates and breeding information will be given out Sale day by the sorts they are in. The Hereford heifers in the sale are Registered and are embryo heifers out of one of our best cows. One is out of Elixer A.I. sire and one out of our herd sire Vincent. The registered Angus heifer is out of our New Frontier 095 son from Bootheel Angus and bred natural to our Angus bull. The herd has been Performance Testing for 30 years and collecting carcass data for 6 years. The herd has also been culled heavily for structure and sound feet, milk flow, fleshing ability and longevity. The bull mates are working in many commercial and registered herds in Southeast Missouri. Many bulls are sold in the SEMO Performance Tested Bull Sale. The Herd is QSA certified. Heifers have known birth dates and sires for generations. Bulls and semen used in the herd all have excellent EPD's for low birth weight, high weaning and yearling weight plus carcass merit. Sixty-one steer mates of these heifers were fed on the farm and marketed to U.S. Premium Beef where they graded 71% Choice. The steers' mates had an average daily gain of 3.1 lbs./day, an average off test weight of 1351, and yield grade average was 3.2. The steers were marketed with an average age of less than 15 months. A.I. pregnancy rate following estrus synchronization was 71% pregnancy rate after the breeding season was 91% (A.I.and Clean-up). Twenty of the heifers are A.I. pregnant to Directive and 11 of these heifers are sired by SAF Connection, 3 heifers sired by SAF J30. SAF Directive is a calving ease bull with growth and carcass merit. Directive ranks among the top 15 % of proven sires for IMF, top 1% for $W, top 3% for WEPD, top 3% YEDD, and top 4% for $F. Our six registered Polled Hereford heifers are sired by FTF Format 024K, a son of the widely praised Feltons 517. His EPD's are BW 2.7, WW 31, YW 55, Milk 16 and CED 4.7. These heifers would be a fine addition to your farm program. Our registered Black Angus heifer is sired by Butchs New Trend H119 LX01. His EPD's are BW 2.4, WW 42, YW 71, Milk 20 and CED 3. Her dam is SAF Dawn 9381, who came to us from the Sydenstricker Angus Farm and who continues to be a strong presence in our Angus program. This heifer should make a nice productive cow and will be a good addition to your farm program. All of the heifers are bred to BWR Connect, a son of SAF Connection.
His EPD's are: BW 1.2, WW 40, YW 71, Milk 15 and CED 8. These heifers
should have excellent milk flow and calving ease throughout their productive
