Missouri Commercial Agriculture Program, MU College of Veterinary Medicine,
Missouri Cattlemen Association and Missouri Dept of Agriculture.
Heifers in this sale have met minimum standards for reproductive soundness,
pelvic size, frame size, muscle thickness, body condition, and weight. They have
undergone a comprehensive health program, and are guaranteed bred. Many were
artificially bred. All heifers have known birth dates and parentage and several
herds have 6 to 7 generations of stacked pedigrees. A few herds have carcass
data from U.S. Premium Beef on steers mates. All heifers are expected to calve
from September thru late November with projected dates given for each lot of
heifers. Offering was approximately 98 percent black and black white face with a
few Registered Angus and white heifers scattered throughout. Heifers were graded
and sorted into uniform lots according to projected calving dates and body type
similarity. A capacity crowd attended the sale with a lot of interest. Demand
very good.
Supply consisted of 238 bred heifers, in 85 lots selling to 26 different
buyers, average weight 1033 lbs, with a sale average of $1515.00 per head.
There were 55 lots of AI bred heifers with an average sale price of $1561.00;
27 lots all natural bred heifers with an average price of $1409.00; 3 lots
of mixed AI and natural bred heifers with an average sale price of $1507.00.
Replacement Heifers: Few Registered Angus Large 1-2, 2nd stage $1750.00-
$2050.00; Large 1, 2nd stage 1600.00-1750.00; Large 1-2, 2nd stage $1350.00-
$1650.00, Fancy 1800.00-1900.00 Medium and Large 1-2, 2nd stage, 1250.00-
1600.00; Medium 1, 2nd stage, $1300.00-$1400.00; Medium 1-2, 2nd stage, 1250.00-
1450.00, Fancy 1600.00-1700.00 per head.
