Northeast Missouri Show-Me-Select Replacement Heifer Sale

   Coordinated by University of Missouri Extension, University of
Missouri Commercial Agriculture Program, MU College of Veterinary
Medicine, Missouri Cattlemen's Association and Missouri Department
of Agriculture.

   All Heifers in the sale have met minimum standards for reproductive
soundness, pelvic size, body condition and weight. They have also
undergone a comprehensive health program, and were guaranteed bred
to easy calving bulls.  Many were artificially bred.  Projected
calving dates were given for all lots with all heifers expected to
calve from January thru the end of April, with the majority due in
February.  The offering was screened for blemishes, muscle, frame,
body condition score (BCS), and disposition by a final screening
committee, comprised of official graders from the Missouri Dept of
Agriculture and USDA, then sorted into lots according to calving
dates and body type similarity.  Demand Moderate to Good.  Sale
average for the 86 lots was 1136.00 dollars per head.

   Replacement Bred Heifers:  Large 1-2 1150-1350 lbs 3rd stage preg
1250.00-1325.00 per head, 1050-1150 lbs 3rd stage 1150.00-1225.00
per head, few lots Registered Angus 1050-1150 lbs 3rd period
1200.00-1275.00 per head.  Large 1 mostly colored heifers
1100-1300 lbs 3rd stage preg 1025.00-1150.00 per head.  Medium and
Large 1-2 1000-1100 lbs 2nd and 3rd period preg 1025.00-1125.00 per
head, couple lots Tarentaise cross 1100 lbs 3rd stage 1250.00-1325.00
per head.  Medium 1-2 900-1000 lbs 2nd and 3rd stage 925.00-1000.00
per head.
