Commercial Agriculture Program, MU College of Veterinary Medicine,
Missouri Cattlemen Association and Missouri Dept of Agriculture.
Heifers in this sale have met minimum standards for reproductive
soundness, pelvic size, frame size, muscle thickness, body condition,
and weight. They have undergone a comprehensive health program, and
are guaranteed bred. Many were artificially bred. All heifers are
expected to calve from early September thru mid November, with projected
dates given for each lot of heifers. Offering was approximately 89
percent black and black white face with 11 percent other colors. Heifers
were graded and sorted into uniform lots according to projected calving
dates and body type similarity. Moderate crowd in attendance and demand
average to good depending on quality.
Supply consisted of 289 bred heifers, in 91 lots selling to 31
different buyers, average weight 1054 lbs, with a sale average of
$965.00 per head. Most bred in the second stage of pregnancy, few
first stage.
Replacement Heifers: Large 1, 1006-1245 lbs, 2nd stage 800.00-
1050.00 3 lots 1160-1322 lbs 1100.00-1175.00; Large 1-2, 931-1285 lbs, 2nd
stage, 825.00-1200.00; Large 2, 932-1240 lbs, 2nd stage, 800.00-1150.00;
Medium and Large 1-2, 994-1100 lbs, 2nd stage, 900.00-1110.00; Medium and
Large 2, 883-1030 lbs, 2nd 875.00-975.00; Medium 1-2, few 995-1060 lbs,
2nd stage, 950.00-975.00; Medium 2, 845-1065 lbs, 2nd stage, 750.00-1075.00
per head; Medium 1 870-1050 lbs, 800.00-1075.00; Medium and large 1,
960-1257 lbs 850.00-1175.00.
