Southeast Missouri "Show-Me-Select" Heifer Sale

This is our sixth year of participation in the Show-Me-Select sales. We tried CIDR implants in our breeding program for the first time this year. Having limited success, we are bringing only the top end of our heifers selected from those that settled on the first A.I. breeding cycle.

This is the cream of the crop. These heifers are all out of performance tested Angus sires. They have good dispositions, excellent milking ability and are bred to Rito 6I6, one of the top sires in the Angus breed. Rito 6I6 has proven his record with us, siring thick, growthy offspring that have put extra $$ in our pocket.

Seldom Rest Farm is a fifth generation family farm. Our focus is on producing cows with good maternal traits that will have longevity in the herd. We stand behind our product and believe that you will find satisfaction in building your own herd with our heifers.

The heifers are all Angus sired by a son of New Trend 4100, Scotch Cape, Maximum and Traveler all from Butch's Angus. Steer mates were fed at Nebraska and sold at 15 ½ months of age at 1346 pounds.

This group of pure bred black Angus heifers are easy fleshing and structurally correct. Most are A.I. bred for mid-February calves to the Brooks EXT 792 bull. Steer mates to these heifers earned a Gold rating in the Missouri Steer Feedout. This is the second year which the Hopewell pen has earned the Gold rating.

These heifers are Angus, Charolais and Charolais Hereford cross. There are 4 of the Black heifers, A.I. sired by GAR Expectation 4915, 2 by New Tend 4100, 1 by SAF High Choice and the rest by a TC Stockman son.

The A.I. heifers are bred to Decatur 55A which is a tremendous calving east, top 3% BW and excels for growth and marbling with a +21 on Marbling. The natural service sire also has excellent EPD's.
