Southeast Missouri Show-Me Select Replacement Heifer Sale

   Coordinated by Southeast Missouri Cattlemen’s Association in 
conjunction with University Extension, University of Missouri 
Commercial Agriculture Program, MU College of Veterinary Medicine, 
Missouri Cattlemen  Association and Missouri Dept of Agriculture.

   Heifers in this sale have met minimum standards for reproductive 
soundness, pelvic size, frame size, muscle thickness, body condition, 
and weight.  They have undergone a comprehensive health program, and 
are guaranteed bred.  Many were artificially bred.  All heifers are 
expected to calve from early September thru the 25th of  November, with 
projected dates given for each lot of heifers.  Offering was 
approximately 97 percent black and black white face with a few white 
heifers scattered throughout.  Heifers were graded and sorted into 
uniform lots according to projected calving dates and body type 
similarity.  A capacity crowd attended the sale with a lot of interest.
Demand was moderate.

   Supply consisted of 208 bred heifers, in 72 lots selling to 30 
different buyers, average weight 985 lbs, with a sale average of 
$1070.00 per head.

   Replacement Heifers:  Large 1, 1132-1315 lbs, 2nd  stage 975.00-
1100.00;  Large 1-2, 1040-1243 lbs, 2nd  stage, 1200.00-1275.00, few 
fancy 1072-1234 lbs 2rd stage, 1300.00-1350.00; Large 2, 1113-1315 lbs, 
2nd  stage, 850.00-975.00;  Medium and Large 1-2, 1004-1380 lbs, 2nd 
stage, 1000.00-1150.00; few fancy 995-1155 lbs 1325.00-1375.00;   
Medium and Large 2, 838-1024 lbs, 2nd  950.00-1100.00; Medium 
1-2, 862-967 lbs, 2nd  stage, 1000.00-1125.00; few fancy 862-991 lbs  
1150.00-1250.00; few  820-948 lbs 1st stage 825.00-950.00; Medium 2, few 
832-955 lbs, 2nd  stage, 725.00-775.00 per head.
