Commercial Agriculture Program, MU College of Veterinary Medicine,
Missouri Cattlemen Association and Missouri Dept of Agriculture.
Heifers in this sale have met minimum standards for reproductive
soundness, pelvic size, frame size, muscle thickness, body condition,
and weight. They have undergone a comprehensive health program, and
are guaranteed bred. Many were artificially bred. All heifers are expected
to calve from late January thru the end of April, with projected dates
given for each lot of heifers. Offering was approximately 88 percent black
and black white face with a few red, red white face and white heifers
scattered throughout. Heifers were graded and sorted into uniform lots
according to projected calving dates and body type similarity. A capacity
crowd attended the sale with a lot of interest. However, demand was moderate
to light.
Supply consisted of 248 bred heifers, in 106 lots selling to 39
different buyers, average weight 1106 lbs, with a sale average of $898.00
per head.
Replacement Heifers: Large 1, 1155-1310 lbs, 2nd and 3rd stage
1100.00- 1150.00; lot fancy 1108 lbs, 3rd stage, 1275.00; Large 1-2,
1280-1445 lbs, 2nd and 3rd stage, 950.00-1100.00, few fancy 1233 lbs
3rd stage, 1150.00; Large 2, 1145-1305 lbs, 2nd and 3rd stage,
850.00-925.00; Medium and Large 1, 1090-1215 lbs, 2nd and 3rd stage,
950.00-1050.00; Medium and Large 1-2, 965-1215 lbs, 2nd and 3rd
stage, 875.00-1000.00; Medium and Large 2, 825- 1215 lbs, 2nd and
3rd stage, 800.00-900.00; Medium 1-2, 980-1085 lbs, 2nd and 3rd
stage, 800.00-925.00; Medium 2, few 895-1070 lbs, 2nd and 3rd stage,
750.00-775.00 per head.
