Coordinated by Southeast Missouri Cattlemen's Association in conjuction
with University Extension, Commercial Agriculture Program, the College of
Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources, the College of Veterinary
Medicine, the Missouri Cattlemen Association, and the Missouri Dept of
Agriculture.
All heifers have undergone a comprehensive health program, and are
guaranteed bred. 63 percent were bred artificially to leading calving ease
bulls in their respective breeds. Heifer were bred to calve between January
28 and April 29, 2002. Offering was primarily black and black white face,
approximately 95 percent. Heifers were graded and sorted into uniform lots
according to projected calving dates and body type similarity.
Requirements for all heifers: calf hood vacinated, complete vaccination
program, treated internal-external parasites, polled or dehorned, minimun
weight and body condition, pelvic and reproductive tract evaluation,
sceened for blemishes.
Supply consisted of 249 bred heifers, in 92 lots selling to 39
different buyers, average weight 1063 lbs, with a sale average $1055.00.

A. I. Bred heifers: 141 head, avg wt 1061 lbs, avg price 1104.00;
Large 1, $1200.00-1375.00; (one Reg. great blood line heifer bred to an
wide spread E.P.D. bull sold for 2300.00); Medium and Large 1,
1000.00-1175.00; Medium and Large 1-2, 875.00-1050.00.
Natural bred heifers: 71 head, avg wt 1055 lbs, ave price 966.00;
Large 1, 1225.00-1375.00; Medium and large 1, 1025.00-1100.00; Medium
and Large 1-2, 825.00-950.00.
Natural and A.I. bred heifers in same lot: 37 head, avg wt 1084 lbs,
ave price 1039.00; Large 1, 1225.00-1325.00; Medium and Large 1,
1025.00-1100.00; Medium and Large 1-2 825.00- 1050.00.
