Results
Significant differences among varieties were found in the four
season-length groups. The very short season varieties as a group were
the highest yielding. In the very short season group, Cocodrie
produced the highest yield for the third year in a row for all
varieties presented. Maybelle did not perform well in the trials as a
result of less than adequate stands in the plots due to poor seed
quality. This was evidenced in other yield trials. A larger percent of
the varieties in the early short season group lodged more than those
in the other season groups. Those varieties that did lodge exhibited
extremely high percentages in this category.
