Vinca (Periwinkle)


Rhizoctonia canker or dieback and root rot (fungus) Stems and leaves may become blackened or blighted. Shoots beyond necrotic area wilt and die. Worse in wet weather. Remove severely affected plants. Iprodione, thiophanate-methyl, thiophanate-methyl plus mancozeb, or triflumizole may be applied at two-week intervals. It may be necessary to increase air circulation by pruning overhanging shrubs and improve drainage by amending soil.

Phoma canker or dieback (fungus) Stems and leaves may become blackened or blighted. Shoots beyond necrotic area wilt and die. Worse in wet weather. No chemical control. Follow cultural practices listed under Rhizoctonia canker.
