Honeylocust

Mimosa webworm Leaflets are webbed together at the tips. The larvae feed on the upper epidermis. Leaves turn brown and entire branches are covered with brown, silken webs. See MU publication G 7251.

Plant bug feeding injury New foliage is distorted. Foliage may have yellow spots or brown areas. Dead areas may drop out, leaving holes. Carbaryl, chlorpyrifos, and cyfluthrin are labeled for control of this pest.

Thyronectria canker (fungus) Cankers develop on trunk and branches. Cankers become elongated and sunken with ridges of callus tissue. When branches are girdled, foliage beyond this point will wilt, turn yellow and die. The fungus is most damaging on drought-stressed trees. See the PDC Fact Sheet "Twig Blights and Cankers". Maintain tree vigor by deep watering during periods of moisture stress.
