Fungicides Labeled for Use on Ornamental Trees and Shrubs

Fungicides are often useful in the management of plant diseases when used properly. The following is helpful to keep in mind when considering the use of a fungicide:

Active ingredients and trade names of materials useful for controlling common diseases of ornamental trees and shrubs. Always consult the pesticide label for appropriate use for disease and host suitability.

Bacterial diseases Bordeaux mixture Bordeaux Mixture (various manufacturers) Some fungicides containing copper may cause plant injury. Damage is most likely to occur in cool, humid weather.
fixed coppers Kocide, Phyton 27

Homeowner: many trade names

quarternary ammonium compounds   For greenhouse and plant propagation areas.
Leaf-spotting fungi azoxystrobin Heritage Certain varieties of apple, cherry and crabapples are susceptible to injury by sprays. See label for details.
Bordeaux mixture Bordeaux Mixture (various manufacturers) Some fungicides containing copper may cause plant injury. Damage is most likely to occur in cool, humid weather.
captan Captan  
chlorothalonil Bravo, Daconil, Manicure, Thalonil

maneb Pentathlon Not intended for use on fruit trees by homeowners. Do not use treated plants for food or feed.
mancozeb Mancozeb, Dithane, Protect

Homeowner: many trade names including Mancozeb

Not intended for use on fruit trees by homeowners. Do not use treated plants for food or feed.
mancozeb + copper hydroxide Junction Not intended for use on fruit trees by homeowners. Do not use treated plants for food or feed.
