50th Annual Monett Ag Conference Features
Dairy in the Morning Session Feb. 12

MONETT, Mo. - Three featured presentations are planned for the diary portion of the 50th Annual Monett Ag Conference, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Feb. 12 at the Monett Armory, 300 Chapell Drive, Monett.

Organizers of the event say local dairymen who are both seasoned and new to the industry will benefit from the program.

Dr. Scott Poock, University of Missouri Extension state dairy veterinarian will lead a hands-on session on udder dissection.

Reagan Bluel, a dairy specialist with University of Missouri Extension will present "Revisiting Basic Nutrition Principals."

"The profitability of a dairy farm pivot around these two topics, milk quality and nutrition," said Bluel. "You'll head home from this meeting equipped to assess your feeding operation, and a visual understanding of how mastitis impacts the udder tissue."

A catered lunch sponsored by commercial exhibitors and the Monett Chamber of Commerce will provide a break.

The final portion of the day wraps up with a presentation on "The Effect of the 2018 Farm bill provisions on the Dairy Industry."

"This new farm bill has some much needed relief available to dairyman," said Scott Brown, assistant extension professor in agricultural and applied economics at the University of Missouri.

For an accurate meal count, pre-register by calling the Barry County Extension office at 417-847-3161. The fee for the conference is $5 and can be paid at the door the day of the event.
