MU School of Visual Studies brings Art on
the Move to Osage Beach Starting Nov. 6

OSAGE BEACH, Mo. - In November, the University of Missouri School of Visual Studies Art on the Move program presents a photo exhibition in Osage Beach by Mackenna Surdyke-Bennett, an Osage Beach native who received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from MU.

Surdyke-Bennett's large-scale silver gelatin photos will be on display with an opportunity to meet the artist 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, at the LO Profile Magazine social at Jeffrey's Prime Rib & Lobster, 1252 Highway KK. This one-evening event is free and open to the public.

The exhibit moves to Lake Fine Art Academy & Galleria, 5513 Osage Beach Parkway, Nov. 13-17. There will be a reception and opportunity to meet the artist 5-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at the Galleria. Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.

Then the exhibit moves to Camdenton High School for a final two days where the artist will meet with students and share stories of her professional art career and educational path at the MU School of Visual Studies. This exhibition is closed to the public.

The School of Visual Studies (SVS) brings the academic resources of Mizzou to communities through collaborative engagements such as the Art on the Move outreach program that include MU students, alumni and faculty creating mutually beneficial learning outcomes for students and the local community.

Art on the Move provides hands-on professional career-building opportunities for MU SVS students and alumni by returning them to their Missouri hometowns or home regions to share their art with others and help recruit the next generation of SVS students.

The exhibit is presented through a partnership of the MU School of Visual Studies, MU Extension, LO Profile Magazine and Lake Fine Art Academy & Galleria, with special thanks to Camdenton High School.
