Five Christian County Master Gardeners Will
Share Best Gardening Practices Feb. 16 in Nixa

OZARK, Mo. — "Five Best Gardening Practices From Master Gardeners" will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Feb. 16 at Nixa Community Center, Nixa.

Dennis Baker will present "Mulching & Composting." Attendees will learn the difference between mulch and compost, when best to use each and how much.

Dave McCurdy will present "Doing It Right: Pruning & Tree Care." Attendees will learn the best times of year to prune trees, blooming shrubs, flowers and fruit and how to care for new and mature trees.

Debbie Clithero will present "Purchasing, Preparing to Plant, Planting." Attendees will learn how to read plant labels to match the right plant for the right spot in your garden and then how to prepare and put the plant into the ground.

Tom Bakie will present "Watering Just Right." Participants will learn when to water, how much and different methods so you waste not, want not.

Jennifer Ailor will present "Safe Pest Control That Works." Attendees will learn what is safe for you to use to control pesky animals, birds and insects that consider your garden their personal dinner buffet.
