Unique Hands-On Spring Calving Clinic in
Springfield, Jan. 22 is Filling Up Fast

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — University of Missouri Extension, in conjunction with Missouri State College of Agriculture, is hosting a "Spring Calving Clinic" inside Pinegar Arena at the Darr Center, 2401 S Kansas Expressway, Springfield.

Due to the expected high level of interest in this program, two identical sessions are being offered on January 22: one from 9 a.m to noon and a second from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

"This hands-on program is a great opportunity. Producers will learn how to determine calf presentations, difficult birth assistance techniques and aftercare," said Jill Scheidt, agronomy field specialist with University of Missouri Extension.

University of Missouri Livestock Specialists Reagan Bluel, Eldon Cole, Heather Conrow, and Andy McCorkill; along with Missouri State Animal Science professor, Jason Salchow, will lead demonstrations on assisting difficult births, tubing and after-care of the newborn calf and mother.

The fee for the program is $30 per person.

Pre-registration is required by January 15. Space is limited so register early to ensure a seat.

Registration can be made by calling the Greene County MU Extension center at (417) 881-8909 or online at http://extension.missouri.edu/greene.
