New Program Helps Retirees in Greene County Volunteer

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Greene County Baby Boomers are invited to apply for Give 5, a new City of Springfield social program for ages 60-plus.

Give 5 matches innovative volunteer opportunities with retired (or almost retired) community residents. It is free to participate and new sessions forming now will start in July, September, October and December.

Classes meet one day a week for five weeks, visiting nearly two dozen impactful nonprofits. The program also includes community learning opportunities, lunch, snacks, and private coach transportation. Expect to have fun, make new friends and learn about volunteer opportunities that match your talents, passions and personality.

At the end of five weeks, Give 5 graduates are invited to pledge at least five hours per month to the charity of their choice.

Retired Baby Boomers can make a difference. Give 5 helps them do that in a meaningful way.

For information about the program and to apply for participation, visit Springfieldmo.gov/Give5. See what other Give 5 classes have experienced at "SGF Give 5" on Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/SGFGive5/.
