Grow Your Community Garden Workshop
May 11 Designed to Educate Local Nonprofits

SPRINGFIELD, MO - Great Southern Bank presents "Grow Your Community Garden," a workshop designed to support area nonprofit organizations, on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 8:45 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Springfield-Greene County Botanical Center located in the Springfield Botanical Gardens at Nathanael Greene / Close Memorial Park.

Staff members and clients of local nonprofits are invited to attend this free workshop instructed by Horticulture Educator Kelly McGowan and Nutrition and Health Specialist Dr. Pam Duitsman, both with University of Missouri Extension.

9:15 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. | Welcome and introductions

9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. | Vegetable Gardening 101

10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. | Horticulture Therapy / Incorporating Pollinator Plants and Cut Flowers

11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. | Lunch & networking

12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. | Garden Tours

1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. | Food Safety in Public Gardens

2:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. | Evaluations and closing remarks

Friends of the Garden organized this workshop in conjunction with Master Gardeners of Greene County with support from the Springfield-Greene County Park Board.
