Workshop Focused on Bovine Reproduction and Artificial
Insemination in Gainesville May 10 and 15

GAINESVILLE, Mo. - Ozark County MU Extension will sponsor a workshop series dealing with bovine reproduction and artificial insemination in Gainesville on May 10 and 15.

Both workshops begin at 6 p.m. at the Ozark County Extension Office, 526 3rd Street Gainesville.

Instructors for the workshop will be University of Missouri Extension Livestock Specialist Randy Wiedmeier, MU Extension Dairy Specialist Ted Probert, and MU Extension Ag Business Specialist Jim Spencer.

According to the instructors, classes will help beef and dairy producers learn about the anatomy and physiology of reproduction in the cow.

"Anyone interested in learning more about new technologies in bovine reproduction and exploring the possibilities of using artificial insemination and timed breeding in their herd is welcome to attend," said Ted Probert, dairy specialist with University of Missouri Extension.

Additional workshop topics will focus on considerations for using estrus synchronization and timed breeding, sire selection and understanding and using genetic evaluations.

The workshop fee is $35 to cover materials and other expenses. To pre-register contact the Ozark County Extension office at 417-679-3525.
