Regional Hay School in Newton County Begins March 28

NEOSHO, Mo. — University of Missouri Extension will conduct a "Regional Hay School" from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, March 28, April 4 and 11 at the Newton County Extension office, 18728 Hwy 59 Neosho.

The session on March 28 will include the following program topics: "Hay Storage and Feeding Management" by Bob Schultheis, natural resource engineering specialist with MU Extension and "Hay Fertility Management," by Jill Scheidt, agronomy specialists, MU Extension.

The session on April 4 will include two presentations from Tim Schnakenberg, MU Extension agronomy specialist: "Forages for SW MO Hay/ Quality Issues/ Hay Testing," and "Hay and Baleage Harvest Systems."

The final class on April 11 includes these two programs: "Meeting Cattle Nutrition Needs," by Eldon Cole, MU Extension livestock specialist and "Economics of Hay Production," by Jennifer Lutes, MU Extension ag business specialist.

The cost of the program is $40 per person or $70 per couples sharing materials. Sandwich lunches will be provided thanks to these program sponsors: MFA Incorporated, Himmerich Crop Care, Hunke Spray Service and Larson Farm and Lawn Inc.
