Greene County Extension
Hosting Annual Meeting Feb. 27

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Friends of Greene County Extension and interested members of the public are invited to attend the Annual Meeting of the Greene County Extension Council starting at 5:30 p.m., Feb. 27 at the Botanical Center in Springfield.

Registration can be made by calling (417) 881-8909 or online at extension.missouri.edu/greene.

A potluck dinner will be provided (chicken provided by extension staff), followed by the swearing in of eight new council members by Greene County Clerk Shane Schoeller.

The guest speaker for the evening will be County Auditor Cindy Stein who, along with other county officials, will explain how they have used the Great Game of Business to make government friendly and more efficient.

Three individuals will be presented the "Honor Roll" Award. The Leaders Honor Roll program is intended to honor outstanding University of Missouri Extension community leaders who have excelled in supporting or co-teaching named programs.

This year's recipients are: Lisa Bakerink (Executive Director of Friends of the Garden); RoseAnn Bentley (retired County Commissioner) and Tom Huff (President of Greene County Farm Bureau).

"Last year was a great year for Greene County Extension programing and statewide recognition for specialists in this office. The coming year promises to be a great one for Greene County Extension too," said David Burton, county program director for Greene County Extension.

Since 1914, Greene County residents have sought help from Greene County Extension on topics related to agriculture, gardening, 4-H youth, nutrition, cooking, families, housing and business and community development.

The Greene County Extension office is located inside the Springfield-Greene County Botanical Center at 2400 S. Scenic Ave., Springfield. Funding for the local office comes from the Greene County Commission and donors to The Friends of Greene County Extension. Springfield-Greene County Parks provides extension with office and classroom space in the Botanical Center as part of an agreement that led to the funding and construction of the Botanical Center.

The Greene County Extension center, with oversight by locally elected and appointed citizens, is your local link to practical education on almost anything. More information on this topic is available online at http://extension.missouri.edu/greene.
