Free Tax Preparation: Stone and Taney County Volunteer
Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Sites Open Jan 30, Feb. 1
FORSYTH, Mo. University of Missouri Extension's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance sites in Stone and Taney counties will be open starting Jan. 30 or Feb. 1 according to a set schedule.
Who can get Free Tax Preparation and the Earned Income Credit? Taxpayers with an AGI of $54,000 or less can get Free Tax Preparation and families meeting additional requirements are eligible for a credit of up to $6,242.
Volunteers are not trained to do business taxes, itemized taxes or capital gains and losses. Individuals that have any of these should see a paid preparer.
In Stone County: Wednesdays, Stone County Annex, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., 106 East 5th Street, Galena; Thursdays, Stone Co. Neighborhood Center (OACAC), 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Stoneridge Center, 15060 Bus. Hwy. 13, Suite 11, Branson West. Beginning Jan 17, call 417-357-6812 to make an appointment for free tax preparation.
University of Missouri Extension in Stone County partners with the Stone County Commissioners, White River Electric Cooperative- Operation Round UP, Healthy Families Taskforce of Stone and Taney Counties, Stone County OACAC and the Stone County Annex to provide this service and financial education to the citizens and residents of Stone County.
In Taney County: Mondays and Tuesdays, Taney County OACAC, 9:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., 610 S. Sixth St., Branson; Tuesdays, OTC- Hollister, 9:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., 10698 Historic Hwy 165, Hollister; and Taney County MU Extension Center, Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., 122 Felkins Avenue, Forsyth.
