Winter Dairy Day offered Feb. 7 in Marionville

MARIONVILLE, Mo. - University of Missouri Extension's Winter Dairy Day, Feb. 7 in Marionville, kicks off with an educational program and lunch.

Reagan Bluel, University of Missouri Extension dairy specialist, says the event is 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at Alice Irene's Restaurant, 310 Highway 60, Marionville.

MU Extension agricultural business specialist Wesley Tucker opens the event with a program on "Farm Success for the Next Generation."

Bluel follows with "Top 10 Benchmarks for Successful Dairies."

Ben Fizette, field crops area sales manager for MFA Inc. in Golden City, will talk about reduced-lignin alfalfa.

A youth panel will discuss the future of the dairy industry. Panel members are Jake Howdeshell, Haley Scott and Tyler Fletcher. Howdeshell attends College of the Ozarks. Scott and Fletcher are graduates of the college.

MFA, the Lawrence County Extension Council and the Lawrence County Commission sponsor the event.
