Jacob Geinapp state winner 2009 Missouri FFA Ag Mechanics Design and Fabrication Placement Proficiency Award

COLUMBIA , MO., April 16, 2009 – Jacob Geinapp of the Gallatin FFA Chapter, Gallatin Mo., was named the state winner of the FFA Agricultural Mechanics Design and Fabrication Placement Award at the 81st Missouri FFA Convention.

 

Geinapp, a senior of Gallatin R-V High School, is the son of Casey Geinapp and LyDale Sidebottom. His FFA advisors are Chris Henderson and Wes Strange.

 

Geinapp has participated in numerous FFA events and activities. He attended the National FFA Convention in 2006 and the State FFA convention in 2006 and 2008. He also has received a Group 1 individual rating in the Agricultural Mechanics Career Development Event.   

 

Geinapp has worked for J&L Manufacturing, Christopher Fencing and John Anthius. His projects included everything from constructing trailers and farm machinery to producing fencing. He became proficient in welding using acetylene torches and plasma cutters. In his second year on the job, Geinapp constructed his own trailer.

 

Geinapp plans to attend Tulsa Welding School in Tulsa, Oklahoma to pursue a welding degree. 

 

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Agricultural Mechanics Design and Fabrication Placement Award are two of 47 proficiency awards presented at state level. Ahrens Steel and Welding Supply sponsored this award.

 

The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has over 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands.
