CROY FROM THE GALLATIN FFA CHAPTER RECOGNIZED AS AREA 2 STAR FARMER CROY FROM THE GALLATIN FFA CHAPTER RECOGNIZED AS AREA 2 STAR FARMER COLUMBIA, Mo., April 16, 2009 - The Missouri FFA Association recognized Kyle Croy of the Gallatin FFA Chapter as Area 2 Star Farmer at the 81th Missouri FFA Convention. He is the son of Dennis and Sheri Croy of Gallatin, Mo. His advisors are Chris Henderson and Wes Strange. Area Star Farmers are chosen based upon outstanding production agriculture for the student’s Supervised Agriculture Experience Program and active participation in FFA. Area 2 covers 25 chapters in the Northwest District. MFA Inc., Columbia, sponsors the 16 Area Star Farmer awards. Croy’s SAE program began with two bred sows. During the past three years, Croy has produced more than 500 head of hogs, 160 acres of soybeans and 200 acres of hay. He also has raised dogs and managed 5 acres of wildlife food plots. Croy has built several large ag mechanics projects including a livestock trailer, a large-bale trailer and two cattle guards. He has developed a value-added agribusiness that markets show pigs and breeding stock. He also sells pickup trucks. He is employed by the Terry Implement Company and Smith Farms. Croy’s FFA activities include president, vice-president and junior president of the Gallatin FFA Chapter. He also has served as an Area 2 FFA officer. He has received a Group I rating in the State FFA Poultry, Dairy Cattle and Ag Mechanics Career Development events. He also has competed at the district level in the livestock and farm management contests. Croy earned top honors for his record book at the area level. Croy received second place in the State FFA Swine Production Award in 2008. Croy is on the honor roll and a member of the National Honor Society. He played football and participated in other athletic activities. He was a member of student council. He is a member of First Christian Church, where he serves a junior deacon. He is a 10-year member of the Knee-Hi 4-H Club. Croy plans to attend North Central Missouri College and obtain an associate’s degree in agricultural business. He plans to transfer to a university to complete a bachelor’s degree. Eventually, Croy wants to farm and operate his own agribusiness. The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has more than 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands .
