Photo cutline: Kyle Croy, of the Gallatin FFA Chapter, wins first place Diversified Agricultural Production Proficiency Award during the 81st Missouri FFA Convention, Columbia April 16-17. -End- Proficiencydivagprod.1stCroy.101-3857-caption Photo available at: http://agebb.missouri.edu/news/moffaconv/ProfWin/pics/IMG_3857(1).JPG Kyle Croy State Winner 2009 Missouri FFA Diversified Agricultural Production Entrepreneurship and Placement Proficiency Award COLUMBIA , Mo., April 16, 2009 – Kyle Croy, Gallatin FFA Chapter, Gallatin, Mo., was named the state winner of the Diversified Agricultural Production Proficiency Entrepreneurship & Placement Combined Proficiency Award at the 81st Missouri FFA Convention. Croy is a senior at Gallatin R-V High School . He is the son of Dennis and Sheri Croy of Gallatin . His agricultural advisor is Chris Henderson and Wes Strange. Croy has been very active in his FFA chapter. He is the Vice President of his chapter. At the National level, he has been on the Courtesy Corps and the Livestock Show. He also attended the Washington Leadership Conference in 2008. Croy’s Supervised Agricultural Experience includes swine production, agricultural sales, soybean production, forage production, small animal care and agricultural placement. With each area starting off small, his entire SAE brought in $60,000. He received grand champion in warm season grass, reserved champion in soybeans, as well as other crop champions at the Missouri State Fair. Croy has won over 20 grand championships with his Poland China hogs, this being the reason that has kept him in agriculture. The swine project has taught him a great deal about marketing, financing, and management. He is now capable of making his own business decisions and plans to attend college and eventually take over his family’s farm. Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Diversified Agricultural Production is one of 47 proficiency awards presented at state level. Missouri Farmer Today sponsored the award. The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has over 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands . The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. -END-
