Casey Alden state winner 2009 Missouri FFA Grain Production Entrepreneurship Proficiency Award

COLUMBIA , Mo., April 16, 2009 – Casey Alden, of the Gallatin FFA chapter, Gallatin, Mo., was named the state winner of the Grain Production Entrepreneurship Proficiency Award at the 81st Missouri FFA Convention.

 

Alden, a junior of Gallatin high school, is the son of Doug and Sandra Alden. His FFA advisors are Chris Henderson and Wes Strange.      

           

Alden has been very active in his FFA chapter. He serves as Treasurer of his FFA Chapter. He has attended many activities on the national, state, and local levels.

 

Alden lives on an 800 acre farm with his parents and older brother, Levi. Alden’s Supervised Agricultural Experience includes farming 30 acres of corn and 190 acres of soybeans. Alden’s experience gained at working on his family farm has proven to benefit his knowledge in the importance of soil nutrients and crop production.  Alden plans to attend the University of Missouri and pursue a degree in veterinary medicine.

 

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Grain Production Entrepreneurship is one of 47 proficiency awards presented at state level. The Missouri Corn Growers Association sponsored this award.

 

The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has over 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands .

 

The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
