Deutschman, a senior at Gallatin R-V High School, is the son of Gary and Becky Deutschman. Her FFA advisors are Chris Henderson and Wes Strange. As an FFA member, Deutschman attended National FFA convention and State FFA convention. From 2005-2008, he has been a state fair exhibitor. Deutschman attended the State FFA leadership camp in 2006. Outside of FFA, Deutschman is on the Gallitin high honor roll, varsity track and football team. Deutschman’s Supervised Agricultural Experience Program (SAE) includes vegetable, fruit, swine, beef, and specialty crop production. He is also involved in sheep placement. Deutschman learned by paying attention to current markets he could tell when he would be able to make a profit, or when he should let go of an item. Deutschman plans to attend college and pursue a degree in agriculture and eventually take over his family’s farm. Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Fruit Production Entrepreneurship and Placement is one of 47 proficiency awards presented at the state level. The Missouri FFA Association of Jefferson City, Mo. sponsored this award. The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has more than 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands .
