Andrew Long state winner 2009 Missouri FFA Equine Science Placement Proficiency Award

COLUMBIA , Mo., April 16, 2009 – Andrew Long, of the Cameron FFA Chapter, Cameron, Mo., was named state winner of the Equine Science Placement Proficiency Award at the 81st Missouri State FFA Convention.

 

Long, a senior at Cameron R-I High School, is the son of Kyle and Tina Long. His FFA advisors are Ron Alden and Carmen Buller.

 

Within the FFA, Long has received his chapter degree and attended the Greenhand Motivational Conference. In 2006 Long competed in creed speaking and meats Career Development Events.

 

Long’s Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) program consists of working at the Galloping B Ranch. There he bred horses and cared for them. Long learned the best seasons for breeding and how to care for a new born foal. In the future, Long plans to continue working at Galloping B Ranch and to one day own a ranch of his own.

 

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agriculture entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience.  Equine Science Placement is one of 47 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level.  The Missouri Quarter Horse Association sponsored this award
