WOSOBA, FROM THE EL DORADO SPRINGS FFA CHAPTER, RECOGNIZED AS STATE STAR IN AGRIBUSINESS

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 16, 2009 - The Missouri FFA Association named Daniel Wosoba of El Dorado Springs, Mo., a member of the El Dorado Springs FFA Chapter, as State Star in Agribusiness at the 81st Missouri FFA Convention. His parents are Floyd Wosoba and Becky Pullin. His advisor is Richard Purdom.

 

Area Star in Agribusiness is based on outstanding agribusiness activities as part of the student’s Supervised Agricultural Experience Program and FFA leadership activities. Area 9 covers 16 chapters in the Southwest District.

 

MFA Inc., Columbia, sponsors the Area Star in Agribusiness awards.

 

Wosoba’s SAE program began with one breeding cow, 29 broilers and 25 acres of straw. Wosoba has a litter-spreading business where he has earned about $100,000. He owns 50 breeding cows and 69 non-breeding calves. He has a farm with 160 acres of pasture and 430 acres of cropland. He owns a custom combining business; he harvests fescue and wheat in the summer and corn and soybeans in the fall. He also hauls cows and hay to make money.

 

Wosoba has been involved in the local FFA chapter for the past four years. He has served as chapter sentinel, Barnwarming committee chairman and Greenhand president. Wosoba has received his Greenhand, chapter and area degrees. He also was named Star Chapter Farmer. Wosoba has received area crop production and beef proficiency awards. He has exhibited his crops at the district and state fairs.

 

Wosoba was very active in his high school. He was involved in weights club, Technology Student Association, Future Teachers of America and other clubs. Wosoba maintained an average 3.4 GPA and has received numerous awards for top grades.

 

After high school graduation, Wosoba plans to take over his father’s 3,500-acre Missouri Century Farm. He also plans to buy more land for pasture for his cattle herd.

 

Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has over 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands .
