Proficiency-Grain Production Entrepreneurship-Famuliner-3819-cs Photo available at: http://agebb.missouri.edu/news/moffaconv/ProfWin/pics/IMG_3819.JPG Famuliner Places Second 2009 Missouri FFA Grain Production Proficiency Award COLUMBIA , Mo., April 16, 2009 – John Famuliner, of the Carrollton FFA chapter, Carrollton, Mo., was named second place of the Grain Production Entrepreneurship Proficiency Award at the 81st Missouri FFA Convention. Famuliner, a senior of Carrollton Area Career Center, is the son of James and Sandra Famuliner. His FFA advisor is Brooke Swindler. Famuliner has been very active in his FFA chapter. He has attended many activities such as the Missouri State FFA convention, Missouri State Fair, and he was part of the Missouri State courtesy corps. Famuliner’s Supervised Agricultural Experience involves sharing crop rent of 57 acres with his grandmother. There he holds the responsibility for paying for half of the crops. He makes management decisions concerning crop rotation. Famuliner raises wheat followed by a corn crop. Famuliner’s experience at working in his crop fields has proven to benefit his knowledge in the importance of crop rotation and crop production. He hopes that with the knowledge gained it will help him with his future career . Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Grain Production Entrepreneurship is one of 47 proficiency awards presented at state level. The Missouri Corn Growers Association sponsored this award. The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has over 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands . The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
