Missouri FFA News Releases

COLUMBIA , Mo. , April 16, 2009 – The Missouri FFA Association recognized Adam Francis from the Norborne FFA Chapter as the State Star in Placement at the 81^st Missouri FFA Convention. His parents are James and Cathy Francis of Norborne, Mo. His advisors are Brenda Smith and Jennifer Courtney.

Area Stars in Placement are selected based upon outstanding achievement in work experience in an agriculture business as part of a student’s Supervised Agricultural Experience and active participation in FFA. Area 2 covers 25 chapters in the Northwest District.

MFA Inc., Columbia, sponsors the 16 Area Star in Placement Awards.

Francis’ Supervised Agricultural Experience program began with him working for his family on Francis Farms. He added another job when he started working at the Missouri State Fair poultry barn.

Francis served as vice president, r reporter and sentinel of his chapter. He also served as the Area 2 sentinel. He competed on the poultry, meats and entomology career development events. He has also attended National FFA convention and Washington Leadership Conference. He has won proficiencies on the area level in grain placement, beef placement and diversified horticulture.

Francis was a member of student council, science olympiad and envirothon teams. He is currently a Missouri Farm Bureau Ambassador.

Following high school, Francis plans to study agriculture business at the University of Missouri .

The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has more than 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands.
