SEABAUGH FROM THE DELTA FFA CHAPTER RECOGNIZED AS AREA 15 STAR FARMER

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 16, 2009- The Missouri FFA Association recognized Amanda Seabaugh from Delta FFA Chapter as Area 15 Star Farmer at the 81st Missouri FFA Convention. She is the daughter of Roger and LaWanna of Leopold, Mo. Her advisor is Alissa Swindell.

 

Area Star Farmers are chosen based upon outstanding production agriculture for the students Supervised Agriculture Experience Program and active participation in FFA. Area 15 covers 16 chapters in the Southeast District.

 

MFA Inc., Columbia, sponsors the 16 Area Star Farmer awards.

 

Seabaugh's SAE program began with seven Angus cows and calves. She sells them as feeder calves and invests her profits into her operation. She plants a garden and sells her products at local farmers markets.

 

Seabaugh's FFA activities include serving as chapter reporter, vice president and president. She has competed on the entomology, landscaping and nursery, livestock, and floriculture career development events. She has attended the Farm Bureau Leadership Conference.

 

Seabaugh's school activities include serving as class vice president. She is a member of the National Honor Society and student council. She was the captain of the softball team and a member of the cross-country team.

 

Seabaugh plans to study agribusiness and agricultural management at Southeast Missouri State University. After college, she hopes to work for the Farm Service Agency in a rural community.

 

The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has more than 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands.
