Byington a senior at Lake Career & Technical Center is the son of Mike and Carole Byington. His FFA advisors are Jeff Kitchen and Megan Shepherd. As an FFA member, Byington has participated state and national FFA conventions. He has participated in both FFA Forestry and FFA Soils Career Development events. Byington’s Supervised Agriculture Experience Program (SAE) involves working with the Camdenton Conservation Department. Within the department, Byington assists with timber stand surveys, works on water units for the fire department and plants trees. Byington works to repair and prepare trails on conservation areas. Bytinton says that his SAE has prepared him to work in the forestry industry. Byington plans to attend college in Southwestern Montana and hopes to work for the Conservation Department. Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Forest Management and Products is one of 47 proficiency awards presented at the state level. This Forest Management and Products Proficiency Award was sponsored by the Missouri Tree Farm Committee. The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has more than 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands .
