Gach from Mid-Buchanan FFA Chapter named Area 1 Star Farmer

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., April 24, 2020 -The Missouri FFA Association recognized John Gach of the Mid-Buchanan FFA Chapter as the Area 1 Star Farmer. His parents are Mark and June Gach of Saint Joseph. His advisor is Amanda Hampton.


Area Star Farmers are chosen based upon outstanding production agriculture in the studentís supervised agricultural experience program and active participation in FFA. Area 1 includes 29 chapters in the Northwest District.†


MFA, Inc., Columbia, sponsors the 16 area Star Farmer awards and the State Farmer Award.


Gachís SAE consists of goat production. Gach owns about 100 breeding does and three full-blood bucks. Gach also shows Boer goats at the state fair and county shows. Gach's main source of income is raising and selling market goats.

Gach currently serves as chapter president, and previously served as chapter historian and chaplain. He has competed at state in the dairy foods and soils career development events, where he received a Group I individual rating in both. Gach attended the American Royal Youth Leadership Day at the Western Farm Show; State FFA Leadership Camp; and Lead, Educate, Advance, Develop Conference for Chapter Officers.


In addition to FFA, Gach is a member of the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America and the A+ program. Outside of school, he is a member of Boy Scouts of America, Order of the Arrow and the Clinton County 4-H.†


After graduating high school, Gach said his main goals are to improve the quality of his herd and increase facility efficiency.


The Missouri FFA has 25,945 members representing 348 chapters. The national organization has more than 700,000 members representing 8,612 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
