Sierra Angell State Winner 2009 Missouri FFA Agricultural Communications Proficiency Award

COLUMBIA , Mo., April 16, 2009 – Sierra Angell, of the Centralia FFA Chapter, Centralia, Mo., was named the state winner of the FFA Agricultural Communications Proficiency Award at the 81st Missouri FFA Convention.

 

Angell, a senior at Centralia R-VI High School, is the daughter of Justin and Sally Angell. Her FFA advisors are Scott Stone and Lori Lewis.

           

Angell has been very active in her FFA chapter. She has attended national FFA convention. Angell has competed on knowledge, poultry, and parliamentary procedure teams. She was also named chapter star farmer.    

 

Angell works at her uncles’ trade journal, The Cattleman’s Advocate. She has been writing and co-editing the youth column for almost three years. She believes this has been a wonderful experience.

 

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Agricultural Communications is one of 47 proficiency awards presented at state level. The Missouri Young Farmers and Young Farm Wives sponsored this award.

 

The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has over 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands .

 

The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
