Columbia FFA Nursery/Landscaping Team Places First at State

COLUMBIA , Mo. , April 16, 2009 – The Columbia FFA Chapter won the FFA Nursery/Landscaping Career Development Event at the 81st Missouri FFA Convention. There were 40 teams in the competition.

 

The winning team members are Katlyn Britt Rankin, Russ Chambers, Brady Chasteen and Will Garrett.  Rankin ranked 14th, Chambers placed third, Chasteen placed eighth and Garrett placed 13th out of 148 individuals. The Columbia FFA advisors are Chuck Miller, Kevin Duncan, Larry Henneke and Sherie Rodekohr.

 

Crader Distributing Co. – BME STHIL awards scholarships to the top four individuals in the Nursery/Landscaping CDE.

 

Individuals in this event are scored on their knowledge of production, marketing, utilization and culture of landscape plants. Students use the information they learn in their horticulture and landscape design classes.

 

Sponsored by University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, this contest is one way the FFA prepares student members for career success. Career development events engage student learning and make a real connection to lifetime goals.
