Henneke Wins State FFA Diversified Livestock Production EntrepreneurshipProficiency Award

COLUMBIA , Mo., April 17, 2009 – Kody Henneke, of the Columbia FFA Chapter, Fulton, Mo., was named the state winner of the Diversified Livestock Production Entrepreneurship Proficiency Award at the 81st Missouri FFA Convention.

Henneke is the son of Larry and Susan Henneke. His advisors are Larry Henneke and Kevin Duncan.

As an FFA member, Henneke participated in the Entomology CDE, Missouri FFA convention, National FFA convention, and the Missouri FFA Camp.

Henneke’s Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) consists of market lambs, ewes, and market hogs. From his first lamb showing, he gained Grand Champion trophy. This honor brought him to continue to show both market and ewe lambs. After hearing that a breeder wanted to disperse his herd, Henneke bought more ewes and began his new business venture. This adventure gave him more confidence bringing him to begin raising market hogs while also raising feeder pigs to produce sausage as well. From this experience, Henneke now mentors others interested in this area, as well as looking forward to one day accepting his State and American Degrees and to work toward a career in construction in the future.

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Diversified Livestock Production Entrepreneurship is one of 47 proficiency awards presented at state level. The Missouri Livestock Marketing Association sponsored this award.

The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has over 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands .

The FFA Mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
