Edquist from Mountain Grove FFA Chapter named Area 13 Star in Placement

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., April 24, 2020 - The Missouri FFA Association recognized Hada Christine Edquist of the Mountain Grove FFA Chapter as the Area 13 Star in Placement. Edquist is the daughter of Eric and Cheryl Edquist of Mountain Grove. Her advisors are Keeland Nix and Ramona Andrus.

Area Stars in Placement are selected based upon outstanding achievement in work experience in an agricultural business as a part of a studentís supervised agricultural experience program and active participation in FFA. Area 13 includes 23 chapters in the South Central District.

MFA Inc., Columbia, sponsors the 16 area Star in Placement awards and the State Star in Placement Award.

Edquistís SAE program comprises three parts. On Edquist Farms, Mountain Grove, she manages cattle and maintains infrastructure. At Schober Barrel Horses, LLC, Mountain Grove, she cleans barns and maintains horses. She maintains dog and cat kennels at Action Farms, Vanzant.

Edquist currently serves as chapter president and area 1st vice president. She previously served as chapter vice president and reporter. She competed in the state dairy cattle evaluation, agronomy and livestock evaluation career development events. She was a Group I individual in the state dairy cattle evaluation and livestock evaluation CDEs. Edquist was a top-six state participant in the Missouri Soil and Water Association FFA Prepared Public Speaking Contest. She attended various events including Washington Leadership Conference, Area Officer Institute, State FFA Leadership Camp and the Missouri Farm Bureau Statewide Leadership Day.

In addition to FFA, Edquist is a member of the National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, math club, science club, and the National Archery in the Schools Program. She served as secretary of the local 4-H club, and is a member of the Missouri 4-H Dairy Cattle Judging Team. She also competed in the North American International Livestock Exposition Dairy Cattle Judging Contest.

After graduating high school, Edquist plans to study animal science and agronomy. Edquist said her goal is to obtain a career as an animal nutritionist working in a feedlot or a large dairy operation.

The Missouri FFA has 25,945 members representing 348 chapters. The national organization has more than 700,000 members representing 8,612 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
