Duncan from Northeast Vernon County Named Area 9 Star in Placement
COLUMBIA , Mo. , April 16, 2009 – The Missouri FFA Association recognized Jacob Danleigh Duncan from the Northeast Vernon County FFA Chapter as the Area 9 Star in Placement at the 81st Missouri FFA Convention. His parents are Chadd and Donis Duncan of Nevada, Mo. His advisor is Chris Dryer.
Area Stars in Placement are selected based upon outstanding achievement in work experience in an agriculture business as part of a student’s Supervised Agricultural Experience and active participation in FFA. Area 9 covers 16 chapters in the Southwest District.
MFA Inc., Columbia, sponsors the 16 Area Star in Placement Awards.
Duncan ’s SAE program began four years ago working for his grandparents. He also helped in their agriculture supply store. He now has his own beef operation which he runs with his grandparents.
Duncan served as chapter sentinel. He competed on the farm management team. He has also attended National FFA convention. He has won proficiencies on the state level in beef placement and received a bronze rating at the national level.
Following high school, Duncan plans to continue studying in the beef cattle industry and would like to see his operation grow.
The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has more than 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands .
