Photo cutline: Matthew Blevins Photo available at: http://agebb.missouri.edu/news/moffaconv/NSO/pics/IMG_0039.JPG Matthew Blevins, Bernie FFA Chapter, Named State FFA Vice President COLUMBIA , Mo., April 16, 2009 – Matthew Blevins of Bernie, Mo., has been selected the 2009-2010 Area 16 State FFA Vice President. Blevins is a member of the Bernie FFA Chapter. His advisor is Ronnie Shipman. Blevins’ FFA Supervised Agricultural Experience Program consists of working with the family-owned construction company and helping educate young people about agriculture. He served as the sentinel, secretary and president of the Bernie FFA Chapter. He also served as secretary of the Area 16 Association. Blevins competed at state in the Agronomy and FFA Knowledge Career Development Events (CDE). He participated in the Livestock Evaluation and Entomology CDEs on the district level. He won area proficiency awards in Agricultural Mechanics Design and Fabrication and Agricultural Education. Blevins has been an active member of the high school band for four years. He served on the student council for four years and been an active member of the National BETA club, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), speech and drama, a high school play, and the “Mule Maniacs” pep club. Matthew plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University where he will pursue a degree in agricultural education. The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has more than 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands .
