Jenny Baird of the Farmington FFA Chapter Named State FFA Vice President

COLUMBIA , Mo., April 16, 2009 – Jenny Baird of Farmington, Mo., has been selected 2009-2010 Area 15 State FFA Vice President at the 81st Missouri FFA convention. Baird is a member of the Farmington FFA chapter. Her advisors are Maranda Taylor and Marty Yount.

 

Baird has a diversified Supervised Agricultural Experience Program that has consisted of raising chickens, curing and selling hams, and working at the local hardware store. In addition, she is employed at two local restaurants.

 

Baird served as the Area 15 FFA president and Farmington FFA Chapter president. She also has experience as secretary and assistant president on the chapter level.

 

Baird has participated in the State FFA Creed Speaking, FFA Knowledge, Dairy Foods, Division I Prepared Public Speaking, State Parliamentary Procedure and Agricultural Sales Career Development Events.

 

Baird has received many awards through the FFA and 4-H organizations for her leadership and accomplishments. She has received the 4-H Trevor Jones Award for leadership and the I Dare You Award for exploration of 4-H opportunities. Baird is a recipient of the State FFA Degree, Star Greenhand Award, Chapter Star in Agribusiness and the Kaytee Whitener Excitement Award.

 

Baird has been part of many leadership opportunities with the FFA. She participated in Washington Leadership Conference, National and State FFA conventions, Missouri Farm Bureau Leadership Day, conducted the Area 15 Greenhand Motivational Conference as an area officer, State Convention Courtesy Corps, Start the Expedition Process (STEP) Leadership Adventure and State FFA Leadership camp where she obtained her state FFA leadership medal. Throughout high school, Baird has been a participant of the Missouri Agribusiness Academy, a member of St. Francois County 4-H Shooting Sports program and a member of the Farmington Leadership in Practice program.

 

Baird plans to attend Mineral Area Community College studying mass communications. Jenny is pursuing her future plans in mass media with an internship at a local radio station.

 

The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has more than 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands .
