Dutcher from Osceola FFA Chapter named Area 7 Star in Placement
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., April 24, 2020 - The Missouri FFA Association recognized Gabby Lea Dutcher of the Osceola FFA Chapter Area 7 Star in Placement. Dutcher is the daughter of Robert and Crystal Dutcher of Osceola. Her advisor is Charles Simpson.
Area Stars in Placement are selected based upon outstanding achievement in work experience in an agricultural business as a part of a student’s supervised agricultural experience program and active participation in FFA. Area 7 includes 25 chapters in the Central District.
MFA Inc., Columbia, sponsors the 16 area Star in Placement awards and the State Star in Placement Award.
Dutcher’s SAE program consists of working at Osceola Cheese, a family-owned business famous for having 275 different cheeses. She has been with Osceola Cheese for four years. Over her four years, her responsibilities have included processing, cutting, aging, smoking, labeling and packaging cheese. Dutcher said her biggest responsibility has been taking orders and shipping cheese all over the country.
Dutcher served as chapter parliamentarian, treasurer and vice-president. She competed in the district FFA knowledge, horse evaluation and selection, and entomology career development events. She also competed at the state level in the meat evaluation CDE. Dutcher won the area agricultural processing proficiency award. She attended Washington Leadership Conference, Missouri Farm Bureau Youth Leadership Day and Greenhand Motivational Conference.
Outside of FFA, Dutcher is a member of National Honor Society; and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. She also is a member of the Osceola Community Church.
Dutcher is studying nursing at State Fair Community College, Sedalia. Dutcher said she hopes to continue her education to become an OB-GYN or a neonatal specialist.
The Missouri FFA has 25,945 members representing 348 chapters. The national organization has more than 700,000 members representing 8,612 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
