Missouri FFA News Releases

COLUMBIA , Mo. , April 16, 2009 – The Missouri FFA Association recognized Emily Scott, of the Osceola FFA Chapter, as the Area 7 Star in Placement at the 81^st Missouri FFA Convention. Her parents are Brian Scott and Cindy Scott of Quincy, Mo. Her advisor is Kim Wheeler.

Area Stars in Placement are selected based upon outstanding achievement in work experience in an agriculture business as part of a student’s Supervised Agricultural Experience Program and active participation in FFA. Area 7 covers 20 chapters in the Central District.

MFA Inc., Columbia, sponsors the 16 Area Star in Placement Awards.

Scott’s Supervised Agriculture Experience Program includes her purchase of four cow calf pairs. She has also worked at Osceola Cheese for two years. Scott also works at the Tri-lakes Animal Clinic where she works with cattle.

Scott served as area 7 vice president, chapter president, and historian. Scott placed first at the area level in prepared public speaking division I. She has been a member of the state bound Knowledge team and competed at state level in prepared public speaking division II. Scott has received the Public Speaking Academy Leadership Medal and was a member of the 2007 Missouri Agribusiness Academy .

Scott has been a member of National Honor Society and Spanish club. She has also been class secretary and president. She has been a member of the track and softball team and received a varsity letter.

Scott plans to attend Missouri State University, studying agricultural education and animal science.

The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has more than 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands .
