JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., April, 24 2020-The Missouri FFA Association recognized Noah Andrew Murray of the Lakeland FFA Chapter as the Area 7 Star Farmer. His parents are Alan and Karen Murray of Deepwater. His advisor is Clint Johnson.
Area Star Farmers are chosen based upon outstanding production agriculture in the student's supervised agricultural experience program and active participation in FFA. Area 7 includes 25 chapters in the Central District.
MFA Inc., Columbia, sponsors the 16 area Star Farmer awards and the State Star Farmer Award.
Murray’s SAE started with renting his family’s equipment to harvest his neighbor’s fescue seed. Murray expanded his business last season by harvesting an additional 300 acres.
Murray currently serves as chapter parliamentarian, and previously served as chapter assistant 1st vice president. He competed at the state level in the agronomy, grasslands evaluation and forestry career development events. In addition to FFA, Murray participated in high school band. Outside of school, he was a member of Boy Scouts of America and the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Youth Group.
After graduating high school, Murray’s plans include studying precision machining technology at State Technical College of Missouri, Linn. Murray said he hopes to build parts for farm machinery or obtain a job in machine tooling.
