Clayton Hawkins of North Shelby FFA Chapter Named State FFA First Vice President

COLUMBIA , Mo., April 16, 2009 – Clayton Hawkins, of Shelbyville, Mo., and Area 3, has been selected the 2009-2010 State FFA First Vice President. He is a member of the North Shelby FFA Chapter. His advisors are Jesse Schwanke, Phillip Martin and Shawn McEwen. 

 

Hawkins’ FFA Supervised Agricultural Experience Program (SAE) consists of a commercial farrow-to-finish operation and purebred Chester White operation specializing in the production of breeding stock with high-quality meat.

 

Hawkins has served as chapter vice president and president of the North Shelby FFA chapter and president of the Area 3 FFA Association.

 

Hawkins was the district creed speaking winner in 2006 and on the first place regional Envirothon team in 2007. He was on the state-winning soils team in 2007 and the fourth-place FFA knowledge team in 2006. He was also selected as the Area 3 Star Farmer in 2009.

 

Hawkins won area proficiency awards in swine production in both placement and entrepreneurship. He also received second place at state in diversified livestock production-placement. 

 

Hawkins has been a member of the Leonard Caring Clovers 4-H for seven years and president for three years. He was the class president for three years, president of Fellowship of Christian Athletes for two years and treasurer of the National Honor Society.

 

Hawkins plans to attend the University of Missouri studying agricultural systems management.

 

The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters.  The national organization has more than 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and Virgin Islands .
